Defender has been engineered so you can dream bigger. Push harder. Go above and beyond.

ALL-TERRAIN CAPABILITY

Uncover new territories. Tackle extreme conditions. Defender’s extraordinary all-terrain capabilities and permanent All Wheel Drive make it unstoppable. Both off and on-road.

CONFIGURABLE TERRAIN RESPONSE

Go explore. Your way. Individually personalise your off‑road system preferences through Configurable Terrain Response technology.

GEOMETRY

Exceptional approach, breakover and departure angles. Shortened front and rear overhangs. Defender’s geometry makes it supremely capable.

CAPABILITIES

OFF-ROAD

All Wheel Drive, a twin-speed transfer box, Electronic Active Differential and a larger tyre family make Defender our most capable Land Rover. Ever.

GEOMETRY

Supreme geometry strengthens the vehicle’s all-terrain capability. Its approach angle is 38 degrees1. This is coupled with a breakover angle of up to 31 degrees and a departure angle of 40 degrees1.

ON-ROAD

As competent on-road as it is off. Enjoy refined comfort with independent front and rear suspension, and a choice of coil suspension, or Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics.

GOING BEYOND

YOUR DEFENDER

Prepared for absolutely anything. A Defender that’s personalised to you.

ALL-TERRAIN

ALL WHEEL DRIVE

When driving across low-traction surfaces such as ice and snow, torque can be balanced between the front and rear wheels, providing greater stability and control.

TWIN-SPEED GEARBOX

An additional set of lower gears can prove invaluable in challenging conditions such as steep inclines or declines, off-road driving or when towing.

ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION

Choose from an access height of 50mm below normal ride height, to an extended height of up to 75mm, with a further extended ride height up to an additional 70mm in more extreme off-road conditions.

ELECTRONIC ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL

This system offers the additional benefit of more traction on corners and more grip off-road. It does so by controlling the slip between the left and right wheels on the rear axle.

CONFIGURABLE TERRAIN RESPONSE

In a world-first for Terrain Response, individually configure the powertrain, steering, differentials and traction control settings to meet your off‑road needs.

OFF-ROAD TECHNOLOGIES

Whatever environment you’re in, complete confidence and control is guaranteed. Features include Low Traction Launch, Gradient Release Control and Hill Descent Control.

ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS

Delivering a flat ride and optimum control by monitoring body and steering movements up to 500 times a second. This system reacts to driver and terrain inputs by offering continuously variable damper settings between soft and firm extremes.

ALL TERRAIN PROGRESS CONTROL

Set and maintain a steady speed in challenging off-road conditions. All Terrain Progress Control acts much like a low-speed cruise control and functions at speeds between 1.8km/h and 30km/h.

POWERTRAINS

PETROL AND DIESEL

Defender offers a range of refined and fuel-efficient Ingenium engines. Choose from advanced petrol or diesel engines.

PETROL MILD HYBRID

Helping to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, the P400 engine harvests and stores energy normally lost during deceleration and redeploys it.

PETROL PLUG-IN HYBRID

Coming soon, our P400e Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) engine will bring the benefits of electrification to Defender.

The information, specification, engines and colours on this website are based on European specification and may vary from market to market and are subject to change without notice. Some vehicles are shown with optional equipment that may not be available in all markets. Please contact your local retailer for local availability and prices. The figures provided are as a result of official manufacturer's tests in accordance with EU legislation. A vehicle's actual fuel consumption may differ from that achieved in such tests and these figures are for comparative purposes only.

WLTP is the new official EU test used to calculate standardised fuel consumption and CO2 figures for passenger cars. It measures fuel, energy consumption, range and emissions. This is designed to provide figures closer to real-world driving behaviour. It tests vehicles with optional equipment and with a more demanding test procedure and driving profile.
