Land Rover Discovery is a refined yet powerful vision of a well-loved automotive icon. Discovery made its debut on the world stage in 2016 and the new design served to further amplify the distinctive exterior the Discovery is renowned for. The interior of the vehicle was also subject to a new design, with the latest 7 seat model offering greater interior space.
Approaching from behind, Discovery’s asymmetric rear number plate plinth is instantly recognisable, thanks to its presence on its predecessor, Discovery. The plinth is not the only design nod to the past, Discovery features a clamshell bonnet, reverse C-pillars and a stepped roof – with the latter also contributing to a more spacious interior.
Each of these design accents demonstrates just how influential the heritage design of Discovery has been in the creation of this versatile SUV.
The Discovery is beautifully proportioned, with a strong dynamic stance.
While the vehicle’s design has influences from the past, Discovery has a modern appearance. The rising belt line and tapered rear end offer Discovery a more streamlined and energetic silhouette, with a redesigned single-piece tailgate offering owners an elegant canopy solution.

Clamshell Bonnet
Discovery’s design DNA is instantly apparent in the clamshell bonnet.
Moving inside, the interior exudes luxury thanks to its clean surfaces, premium finishes and superior leather options that create a cocoon of comfort and style. The increased internal space is greatly enhanced by the panoramic glass roof, which floods the vehicle with natural light while offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding environment.
Dubbed as the most versatile Land Rover yet, Discovery’s interior design isn’t only about aesthetics but also about providing a versatile space needed to meet the demands of modern day life.
The first Land Rover to feature Intelligent Seat Fold technology, Discovery’s spacious cabin allows for 7 full-size seats. The interior also has plenty of stowage options, including a section below the cup holders. The cabin also features a hook to help keep shopping bags in place, and in a demonstration of attention to detail, is activated with a push, meaning it sits flush when not in use.
The design process for Discovery is an active demonstration of the commitment shown by Land Rover to produce vehicles that excel expectations in design as well as capability.
