THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME WITH LAND ROVER

In July 2015 Brett Andersen and three friends undertook the trip of a lifetime after winning the Land Rover ‘Spirit of Adventure’ competition.

Applying his ‘adventure is a state of mind’ philosophy, Brett and his friends travelled along the Agulhas coastline, South Africa, following the route of the annual 'Sardine Run' from Port Elizabeth to Durban.

Led by marine biologist and Land Rover Global Ambassador, Monty Halls, the expedition team were at the centre of this incredible migration of sardines which every year attracts thousands of marine predators and other wildlife. It is a spectacle that is viewed by experts as one of the wonders of the natural world.

In fifteen days of non-stop adventure, the expedition team dove amongst the feeding frenzy of the sardine run and traversed challenging off-road terrain to visit Land Rover sponsored projects, making this a truly unforgettable experience.

“The Shoals of Agulhas expedition brought us from Port Elizabeth, travelling more than 1000kms over fourteen days. We swam with sharks, went off-road, braved rolling seas, and sought out adventure every second possible.”

HANDS ON AT BORN FREE

As part of the adventure, Brett and his friends visited the Born Free Foundation centre to see some of the conservation work Land Rover is involved in. Whilst there, they assisted the staff in delivering a baby buffalo and administering medicine to some of the resident big cats.

MEETING KINGSLEY HOLGATE

The team meet up with Land Rover Ambassador Kingsley Holgate and take time out of the expedition to support his work with The Kingsley Foundation.
The Kingsley Foundation is one of a number of humanitarian projects Land Rover is involved in.
