Land Rover, South Africa has announced Bryan Habana as one of their brand ambassadors in support of the global partnership with the Rugby World Cup 2011 to take place in New Zealand this year.
Habana, one of South Africa’s most celebrated rugby icons who in 2007 joined Jonah Lomu with the world record for the most tries scored during a World Cup tournament and ranks number one for the most tries scored as a member of the Springbok squad (38), joins rugby legend, John Smit as National rugby representatives for the Land Rover brand.
Habana said of the partnership, “Land Rover is a brand that I am already a big fan of – their products, customer service, innovative thinking, marketing activities and brand ethos resonate with me both personally and professionally.” Habana continued, “The fact that I was already investigating Land Rover as a possible purchase before we began the partnership negotiations is proof that this relationship will continue well beyond the Rugby World Cup 2011”
Kevin Flynn, Managing Director for Land Rover South Africa, “Land Rover is very selective with the people we choose to represent our brand and equally selective about the International partnerships we choose to engage in. We believe the appointment of two such prominent local players who have been synonymous with the success of South African rugby, is testament to our commitment to strategic brand alignments both locally and globally.” Flynn concluded, “Land Rover’s association with rugby will continue well beyond this year’s World Cup which is precisely how long we hope our relationship with Bryan and John remains.”
