DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION
DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION
All models with the 2.2 litre 150PS diesel engine with six-speed manual transmission feature an intelligent Stop/Start system as standard. While the six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift® (optional on the 150PS TD4 and standard on the 190PS SD4 diesel and i6 petrol engines) offers optimum driveability as well as manual sequential gear changes and a driver selectable sport mode.
- As Standard with this model of Freelander 2
-
Six-speed manual transmission
An intelligent Stop/Start system is available on models with the 2.2 litre 150PS diesel engine fitted with the six speed manual transmission. This enhances vehicle efficiency and reduces tailpipe emissions to zero, by shutting down the engine, in appropriate conditions , when the vehicle comes to a stop.
-
Terrain Response®
Tackle tough conditions confidently with Land Rover's patented Terrain Response® technology – fitted as standard on every vehicle (except the Freelander 2 entry model). A turn of the dial reconfigures the engine, transmission, and traction settings for optimum driveability across a variety of conditions: tarmac, grass, gravel, snow, mud, ruts and sand.
-
Electronic Traction Control (ETC)
Electronic Traction Control (ETC) is a sophisticated stability control system that senses when wheel slip is occurring and uses the braking system to minimise wheel spin.
-
Hill Descent Control (HDC)
When selected, Hill Descent Control (HDC) engages with the release of the footbrake and improves control on steep or slippery descents. Working in conjunction with HDC, Land Rover's Gradient Release Control (GRC) ensures smooth hill starts, through progressive release of the brakes, whether ascending or descending.
-
Intelligent Stop/Start system
Land Rover's intelligent Stop/Start system is standard on TD4_e manual models. Significantly improving fuel consumption and reducing CO2 emissions in traffic, the system intelligently stops the engine when you come to a halt and shift into neutral. When you're ready to move off, depress the clutch and the system will re-start the engine.
- Cruise Control
SUSPENSION AND STEERING
SUSPENSION AND STEERING
Independent suspension delivers superb on-road dynamics with handling that is both rewarding and responsive, as well as a ride that is comfortable whatever the surface. Long wheel travel adds to Freelander 2's capability off-road, while its positive steering and compact turning circle of 11.3m ensure excellent control and manoeuvrability in the tightest situations.
- As Standard with this model of Freelander 2
-
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Dynamic Stability Control is designed to correct over- or under-steer. The system interacts with the engine and the brakes to help maintain stability.
-
Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
Cornering Brake Control (CBC) feeds additional brake force to the outside front wheel when cornering. This minimises the risk of rear-end breakaway when braking hard.
-
Roll Stability Control (RSC)
While no technology can remove the need for safe driving practice, the Roll Stability Control (RSC) system can help the driver to maintain vehicle control and balance. If the system senses that the vehicle is approaching a tipping point, it will reduce engine power and use the ABS to increase the turn radius to help reduce the likelihood of roll-over.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
SAFETY AND SECURITY
