James Bond has driven a wide variety of cars including Land Rover. It’s been 10 years since one last featured in ‘Die another Day’. Now in the latest Bond flick ‘SKYFALL™’ Jaguar Land Rover stars once again.
For those who have already seen the movie, you must remember the opening scene where Agent Eve drives a Land Rover Defender Double Cab Pick-Up alongside a speeding train, and also a Range Rover and a Jaguar XJ speeding through the streets of London. Jaguar Land Rover actually provided a total of 77 vehicles to the SKYFALL™ production, for use both on-screen and as production support vehicles.
Co-producer Andrew Noakes who has worked on no fewer than 11 Bond films saw the association with the Jaguar Land Rover group as natural. “Bond is quintessentially British and Jaguar and Land Rover are two of the most established and globally recognised British brands, so it was a natural step for us to involve them in the film.”
The Defender, part of the Land Rover family for more than six decades, gets a real Hollywood treatment in SKYFALL™, starring alongside the likes of Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Javier Bardem. In fact, the Land Rover Defender used in the opening scene of SKYFALL™ was on display, complete with bashes and bullet holes, at the Harrods’ Knightsbridge store in London until October 27.
Moroccan motoring enthusiasts enjoyed the opportunity to witness the entire Land Rover range on display at the 2014 Auto Expo.
