Biosphere Terms & Conditions
Terms and Conditions
Please ensure that you have read and fully understood the terms and conditions of the competition. These terms and conditions are in addition to Biosphere Expeditions’ standard terms & conditions as they appear in the expedition dossier and on www.biosphere-expeditions.org/terms . Where the additional and standard terms & conditions appear mutually exclusive, the additional terms & conditions below shall be considered the binding terms & conditions.
1. The competition is open to all Italian residents aged 21 or over with an uninterrupted valid licence for the past three years, which must exclude certain convictions (details on application by calling 0800 110 110). The winner must hold a valid passport with 6 months remaining prior to expiry.
2. Employees of Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions, their families, dealerships, associated companies and agencies are excluded from entering.
3. Stage one of the competition is to fill out a questionnaire. Stage two is to create a 60 second video, which will be uploaded onto www.landrover.it . The closing date for video entries is 30th September 2010 Stage three is a selection day, and stage four is participation in a two-week Biosphere Expeditions project to Namibia. 10 finalists will be interviewed via telephone. 3 of the 10 finalists will be invited to attend a selection day, to participate in challenges to enable a judging panel to select the winner. For the selection day at Eastnor Castle, travel arrangements to the UK as well as a night in a hotel will be taken care of by Land Rover.
4. No cash alternative will be offered.
5. The judges decision is final and the winner will be notified at the end of the selection day on 9th October 2010.
6. No correspondence will be entered into.
7. The competition and the terms and conditions of this agreement will be governed by English law.
8. There are one prize to be won, each comprising of a two-week Biosphere Expeditions project to Namibia between November and December 2010. Details of this conservation project are at www.biosphere-expeditions.org/namibia . Biosphere Expeditions will provide all the arrangements and services as detailed below from and to the assembly point in the host country. A flight to the expedition assembly point in Winbdhoek is part of the prize, but the competition winner must make their own travel arrangements that will enable them to be at the published assembly point in time and to leave the expedition not before the published expedition end date and time.
9. It is the responsibility of the competition winner to make their way to the assembly point in time for the advertised assembly date and time. We insist on punctuality and cannot accept liability for any loss arising from failure to arrive at the assembly point on time. The competition winner must make these travel arrangements themselves using a travel agency of their choice. For this purpose the winner will be given a travel allowance of €1500. Once the competition winner has made his/her travel arrangements, s/he should submit receipts to Biosphere Expeditions using the form provided for immediate reimbursement.
10. The competition prize includes • travel to and from the Windhoek assembly point up to the travel allowance • all expedition travel from the assembly point onwards and back to it • all accommodation and base camp facilities • all meals and provisions • access to specialist research equipment • all research permit and access fees • the services of local researchers and helpers • the services of the expedition leader • any other services or goods specifically mentioned in the expedition dossier.
11. The competition prize does not include • any travel to or from the expedition assembly point beyond the travel allowance given • visa and vaccination costs • personal travel insurance • additional drinks and telephone calls • airport taxes payable in host countries • private trips and excursions • accommodation or other costs for any extra days spent in-country before the expedition start date or after the expedition end date • anything else not specifically included.
12. Once travel arrangements are made by the competition winner, s/he will be bound by these conditions. Biosphere Expeditions or Land Rover cannot be held responsible for any circumstances that may cause the winner to change or cancel their booking.
13. The winner is required to record his or her experience online, via a blog on www.landrover.co.uk on a regular daily basis. He or she must willingly participate in media interviews & other activities, create and upload video diaries, photo diaries, update Facebook and Twitter pages, and write a daily online diary. The winner will be provided training by Land Rover’s digital agency, Wunderman, to enable this requirement to be performed.
14. The winner must be available for 2 weeks between 5th December 2010 and 17th December 2010. By entering into this competition, the entrant agrees to be available in Namibia for those dates and free to travel to/from the prize destination. Depending on where the winner is coming from, this will mean leaving his/her place of residence a day or two before the expeditions start date as above and returning to his/her place of residence the day after the expedition end date as above .Where an entrant is not available and free to travel, on the dates, then that entrant shall be deemed to have forfeited his/her entry and effective immediately and shall no longer be considered an entrant in this competition. Winner may also arrange travel to Namibia earlier or leave later as long as he/she stays within his/her travel allowance and claim only those costs directly connected to travelling to the expedition assembly point and back.
15. Land Rover and Biosphere Expeditions reserve the right to cancel this competition, or to change or vary any condition or requirement of this competition (in any way it deems fit), without notice. Land Rover and Biosphere Expeditions reserve the right to substitute the prizes or any part of the prizes (due to unavailability or for any other reason) with a different prize or part of the prize of equal or greater monetary value.
16. The prize is to be redeemed only by the named winner and is not transferable.
17. In all cases of dispute, Land Rover and Biosphere Expeditions may ask for additional information from the recipient. Both Land Rover and Biosphere Expeditions retains sole rights to the interpretation of these terms and conditions and their decision is final.

19. Entrants hereby certify that all statements made in their entry are true and complete and understand that if any of the disclosures made by him/her are false, this will be cause for disqualification of the entrant’s consideration for this competition.
20. No payment or purchase is necessary to enter this competition, however, any costs associated with producing an entry and entering this competition, including, but not limited to, any production costs associated with the entry or obtaining internet access, will be the sole responsibility of the respective entrant.
21. Intellectual Property/Copyright: By entering into this competition the entrant confirms and acknowledges the following:
1. All required permissions regarding music, sound and/or images presented within the entry, have been lawfully acquired by the entrant.
2. Land Rover (including Strutta.com Media Inc. the application and third party hosting provider used by Land Rover to run stage 2 of this competition) is not liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by the entry and/or the entrant.
3. The entry does not violate any applicable law or regulation (including any laws regarding anti-discrimination or false advertising).
4. The entry is not obscene or pornographic.
5. The entry does not contain any viruses or other computer programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, date or personal information.
22. By entering into this competition, each entrant (irrespective of whether that entrant is a prize winner):
a. Agrees to be questioned or interviewed (whether in person or by other means such as email or phone), filmed and photographed and agrees to be available for interviewing, filming, photography and for other public relations, marketing and promotional activities associated with this competition, as required and as directed by Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions.
b. Agrees to allow Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions to make contact with the entrant (whether in person, by phone, email or otherwise) for the purpose of requesting further information from the entrant in relation to their entry or film or this competition.
c. Consents to his or her names, image, photograph and likeness being recorded, reproduced, published, copied, communicated and otherwise used by Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expedition for advertising, publicity and marketing and promotional purposes in any television program, video recording, or printed or electronic materials throughout the world, in perpetuity, and without the need for any compensation. The entrant further agrees, not without the specific prior written consent of Land Rover and Biosphere Expeditions, to publish or disclose any information in connection with the competition or the prize (in particular, without limitation, to a representative of the media, in whatever form). The entrant shall not be entitled to give interviews or be involved in articles or reports regarding the competition or the prize with any third party without the specific prior written consent of Land Rover and Biosphere Expeditions.
23. Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions, (including at its discretion and without limitation, any and all of its partners or subcontractors including Strutta.com Media Inc., the application and third party hosting provider used by Land Rover to run this competition), may broadcast, edit, publish or screen the entry and where relevant, the winning video entry in perpetuity and in all media now known or later invented. This includes, without limitation, websites owned/controlled by Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions and/or associated with this competition, or as determined Land Rover at its discretion.
24. While safety is Biosphere Expeditions’ top priority and emergency procedures are in place, neither Land Rover nor Biosphere Expeditions are responsible for the winner personal safety. The winner is responsible for their own travel arrangements, insurance and medical insurance policies.
25. Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions reserve the right to disqualify any applicant if they have reasonable grounds to believe the applicant has breached any of these terms and conditions.
26. In the event that any applicant is disqualified from the competition, Land Rover and/or Biosphere Expeditions at their sole discretion may decide whether a replacement contestant should be selected. In this event, any further applicant will be selected on the same criteria as the original applicant and will be subject to these terms and conditions.
