DRIVING TECHNOLOGY
Four-corner Air suspension delivers skilful on and off-road dynamics. Smart steering - nimble at slow speeds, more weighted at high speeds - raises your level of control, stability and road surface feedback. And the outstanding Terrain Response® exceptional brakes and acclaimed Air suspension help negotiate all conditions and terrains.

You can master all of this technology, as well as your driving ability, at our Land Rover Experience Centres, which teach capable and responsible driving in all environments.

Dynamic Response

Standard on Range Rover Sport Supercharged and the TDV8, optional on other models, the Dynamic Response system senses cornering forces and acts accordingly. It helps minimise the risk of roll, provides superb handling and maintains ride support and comfort. When off-road terrain warrants greater wheel travel, Dynamic Response releases the anti-roll bars.

Terrain Response®
Inching over rocks and boulders, gliding through soft sand, gripping snow and ice – just turn the dial, and Terrain Response® will help you out. It adopts the most appropriate settings for the many advanced electronic controls and Traction aids, ensuring that the more difficult conditions are more easily managed.

Adaptive Cruise Control
Using radar to scan the road 10 times a second, ACC dynamically matches the speed of the vehicle in front of you, settling in behind it and maintaining a constant speed and one of four cruise gap distances chosen by you. Should you close in on the vehicle ahead, Forward Alert quickly provides an audio and visual signal.

Advanced braking system
Range Rover Sport has exceptional stopping power. All TDV8 and supercharged derivatives employ 4-piston Brembo® calipers with large brake discs. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) is also on hand to reduce braking distances in an emergency and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) helps deliver the confidence of maximum control without wheel lock.

Independent front and rear suspension makes for exceptional ride, handling, control and balance. Computer controlled cross-linked air springs over each wheel help maintain a level ride height irrespective of load. They also enable exceptional wheel articulation for outstanding off-road handling and Traction. Designed from the outset to accommodate the TDV8 engine, its on-road agility and balance match the remarkable standards set by its V8 Supercharged sibling.

The Positive Torque system, standard on all TDV8 and supercharged derivatives, provides faster downshifts by automatically blipping the throttle to match engine and road speeds, for an even more dynamic drive. Huge reserves of Torque are available across the rev range:

  • Continuous 640Nm at 2000rpm-2500rpm
  • Over 500Nm between 1500rpm and 3700 rpm

The result is an instant response and swift acceleration when overtaking or from standstill.

Electronic ´e´ differential
Range Rover Sport harnesses all available grip on every surface. Centre electronic ´e´ differential (e-diff) is standard (and optional at the rear); Torque gets distributed where the Traction control system thinks best. E-diff delivers superior on and off-road Traction by the cross wheel slip without the need for sudden braking, and acts sooner and more subtly than traditional ABS-based Traction control methods.
