Tackle tough conditions confidently with Land Rover's patented Terrain Response® technology . The Terrain Response system allows the driver to select one of four settings appropriate to the conditions – Grass/Gravel/Snow, for example, and adjusts the vehicle’s powertrain and traction control systems to maintain momentum.
The Terrain Response system is as useful on-road as it is off-road. It adds to the on-road capabilities of Freelander 2, allowing you to maximise your vehicle’s potential to go further and see more - all with outstanding control.
When selected, Hill Descent Control (HDC) engages with the release of the footbrake and improves control on steep or slippery descents. Working in conjunction with HDC, Land Rover's Gradient Release Control (GRC) ensures smooth hill starts, through progressive release of the brakes, whether ascending or descending.
For superior traction, the electronic centre coupling at the heart of Freelander 2’s intelligent four-wheel drive system adapts continuously and instantaneously to the conditions.
The convenient Passive Start system automatically detects the close proximity of the key, allowing use of the Start/Stop button without the key being docked in the vehicle.
Anti-lock Braking System helps prevent the wheels locking up under heavy braking and on slippery surfaces allowing the driver to maintain control.
The latest Freelander 2 with its modern, contemporary looks and sleek lines, has an immediate sense of purpose and is more distinctive than ever.

As one of the Driver Assistance Technologies, providing improved visibility when reversing, the Rear View Camera is a valuable parking aid. Static lines representing the vehicles outer perimeter and predicted path are superimposed on the rearward image, to make parking in tight spots as easy as possible.
The panoramic sunroof – with a fixed rear section and electric tilting/sliding front section – adds to the feeling of lightness and airiness within the cabin. The glass is specially formulated to filter the sun’s infrared rays, providing light without unpleasant heat. Both sections also include a convenient blind.
Includes headlamp powerwash.
There’s something for every taste in our range of exterior colours. Three tough, distinctive finishes (Solid, Metallic and Premium*) are available depending on the colour chosen. Freelander 2’s paint process involves five key stages, including a three-coat electrostatic paint application and rigorous anti-corrosion wax protection.
*Premium paints are only available on SE and HSE models
All terrain capability is at the heart of all Land Rover products. The tyres have been specifically engineered to provide outstanding performance at all times, in almost all conditions.
As the all-terrain experts, Land Rover have gone ‘above and beyond’ in testing and development to ensure that the right tyre is provided for maximum traction.
Tyres have an ‘all season capability’, whilst specific tyres have a balance of attributes that may affect their performance in certain circumstances. The size of the wheel and tyre chosen also has a bearing on the vehicle’s performance. Please bear in mind the intended usage of the vehicle when choosing wheel and tyre combinations.
A range of colours and trim materials cater to every discerning taste.

Inside Freelander 2, no-one travels second class. Driver and passengers alike enjoy generous leg, head and shoulder room. And with Stadium Seating putting rear passengers 50mm higher than those in front, everyone can enjoy the view.
The versatile rear loadspace can be expanded by folding the 60:40 split rear seats to provide a flat load floor, and up to 1,670 litres of space. With one metre between the wheel arches there’s always room for more awkward loads.
Four elegant fascia finishers are available to complement the interior aesthetics. Choose between Silver Element and Black Element metallic effects or Dark Chestnut wood effect and Grand Black Lacquer effect.
The Freelander 2 is designed to enrich the driver and passenger experience. Every control and surface is carefully crafted to give Freelander 2’s luxurious interior the quality and tactile ambience found on other.
The rear of the centre console features an additional storage box for small items, an audio socket for MP3 players and a power socket, which can be used to recharge PCs and other low-wattage electrical equipment.
Steering wheel mounted controls at your fingertips for ultimate ease of use. Depending on the model, the intuitive technologies available cover cruise control, the audio system.
Electronic Traction Control (ETC) is a sophisticated stability control system that senses when wheel slip is occurring and uses the braking system to minimise wheel spin.
By controlling the brake forces between the front and rear wheels, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) provides predictable braking under different load conditions.
Emergency situations can take you by surprise, requiring you to stop your vehicle quickly. The Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) system detects emergency braking then instructs the electronic brake actuator to increase hydraulic pressure to help improve your stopping distance.
Seven airbags are fitted as standard and play a key role in helping to safeguard all occupants. Driver and front passenger airbags provide head and chest protection while side airbags offer protection from lateral impacts. Full-length curtain airbags provide head impact and rollover ejection protection for all occupants while a driver's inflatable knee bolster provides additional lower body protection.
Dynamic Stability Control is designed to correct over- or under-steer. The system interacts with the engine and the brakes to help maintain stability.
Cornering Brake Control (CBC) feeds additional brake force to the outside front wheel when cornering. This minimises the risk of rear-end breakaway when braking hard.
While no technology can remove the need for safe driving practice, the Roll Stability Control (RSC) system can help the driver to maintain vehicle control and balance. If the system senses that the vehicle is approaching a tipping point, it will reduce engine power and use the ABS to increase the turn radius to help reduce the likelihood of roll-over.
The remote control includes the following functions: locking and unlocking of the doors and tailgate, a 30 second courtesy headlamp delay and activation of alarm.
Life with Freelander 2 is so practical thanks to thoughtful technology features available.
Operated via buttons on the steering wheel, cruise control allows the driver to select a speed, which it will then maintain, smoothly and without using the brake pedal or accelerator. The system is indispensable on long journeys. The system can be overridden manually either via the steering wheel buttons, or by the accelerator and brake pedals.
When reverse is selected, four ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper are activated automatically. The audible warning tones help you to manoeuvre when parking.
When reverse is selected, four ultrasonic sensors in the front bumper are activated automatically (with the rear sensors). The audible warning tones help you to manoeuvre when parking, and when driving forward into a limited space the system can be operated manually.

We take our responsibility to the environment very seriously with an integrated and innovative strategy we call Our Planet. Our plan is simple; to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and the production of man-made CO2 emissions, to use fewer resources and create less waste.
We do this by investing in four key areas areas designed to reduce our carbon footprint, support conservation and humanitarian collaborations and includes one of the world’s most comprehensive CO2 offset programmes.
Investing in renewable energy, technology change and energy efficiency projects. As well as offsetting CO2 emissions from the manufacturing assembly of Range Rover and Land Rover vehicles, our programme means customers can also offset the first 45,000 miles of driving their new Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles.
A joint £800m investment into new technologies designed to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel consumption. We are targeting a 25 percent reduction in joint fleet average tailpipe CO2 emissions by 2015, as part of our carbon management plan. Range Rover Evoque has been accredited to ISO14040, a whole life assessment that measures the vehicles environmental impact from manufacturing to use.
World class manufacturing facilities, certified to ISO14001 since 1998. As a company we are targeting a 25 percent reduction in operating CO2 emissions by 2012, 25 percent in waste to landfill and 10 percent in water consumption, based off 2007 levels. Our initiatives include factory energy efficiencies, cutting transport miles and offsetting all CO2 emissions from manufacturing assembly process.
