- As Standard with this model of The Range Rover
-
Xenon Headlamps with headlamp wash
The Range Rover exudes a striking presence. Distinctive front lamps make optimum use of Xenon and LED technology which offer 'automatic on' functionality and directional lighting. The concentric circle headlamp design gives a defined impression, something that is amplified by the new Gloss Black headlamp surrounds. The whiter light from the Xenon headlamps combined with adaptive front lighting provides exceptional illumination that also moves with the vehicle's pitch and steering direction. Plus, cornering lamps broaden the beam of the headlamps when taking a turn during normal night driving.
-
Acoustic windscreen and laminated row one side glass
Smart innovations create a more tranquil Range Rover cabin experience. Already soothed by the quiet of the vehicle's advanced engine technology, additional levels of acoustic refinement are achieved with a laminated front screen and front door glass. You can also choose laminated rear door privacy glass to further protect the cabin from outside noise.
-
Front and rear park sensors and rear camera
Front and rear parking sensors are standard on The Range Rover. Additionally, the rear camera displays a rearward view from the vehicle on the Infotainment screen. To make parking as easy as possible, static lines representing the vehicle's outer perimeter and predicted path are superimposed on the rearward image.

As well as giving the vehicle's interior an even lighter, airier atmosphere, the versatility of the electric slide/tilt glass sunroof provides opportunities to enjoy the elements in all types of weather.
-
Exterior mirrors – auto dimming
Auto dimming exterior mirrors provide a dipping function that detects excessive light and automatically darkens the mirror glass. This reduces glare from the headlamps of other vehicles in dark or low light conditions, improving the driver's rearward vision.
- Automatic headlamps and rain sensors
- Heated windscreen
- Door puddle lamps and footwell lamps
- Rain sensing windscreen wipers and auto lights
- Tinted glass

Privacy glass
Laminated privacy glass allows rear seat passengers to travel more discreetly and provides increased security by restricting vision into the cabin. It reduces UV light transmission, making the vehicle a safer, more pleasurable place to be. Privacy glass also keeps temperatures at a lower level in hot climates, enabling the vehicles air conditioning system to improve efficiency and performance.
-
VentureCam™
VentureCam™ is a wireless motion camera that transmits real time, colour pictures from outside the Range Rover to the driver via the Touch-screen on the centre control panel. The camera can either be attached to the exterior of the vehicle or operate up to 30 metres away and is invaluable when negotiating rough terrain, difficult objects such as boulders or when reversing a trailer. When not in use VentureCam recharges and stows neatly in the docking station in the upper glove box.
-
Adaptive Xenon headlamps
The Range Rover exudes a striking presence. Distinctive front lamps with gloss black surrounds make optimum use of Xenon and LED technology which offer 'automatic on' functionality and directional lighting. Automatic High Beam Assist for the headlamps detects oncoming or followed vehicles and switches between high and dipped beam. The whiter light from the Xenon headlamps, combined with adaptive front lighting, provides exceptional illumination that also moves with the vehicle's pitch and steering direction.
-
Climate control heated windscreen
Designed to significantly reduce direct heat from the sun, the Climate Control windscreen and front side glass helps maintain optimum cabin conditions for everyone, which in turn reduces the need for high fan speeds. Regardless of outside conditions, driving pleasure is never compromised in the 2012 Range Rover.

The Range Rover Vogue SE and Autobiography derivatives include heated and cooled front seats which are ten-way electrically adjustable for driver and passenger. 12.3 inch TFT-LCD Virtual Instrument Panel
One glance at the new virtual instrument panel reveals the very latest Thin Film Transistor (TFT)-LCD technology, a stunning advance in the clarity of driver information. The new 12 inch TFT-LCD virtual instrument panel uses the same technology found in high-quality computer laptops and can be both personalised and adapted to suit various driving conditions or personal preference. During night-time driving, for instance, the TFT-LCD virtual instrument panel's 'torchlight' setting highlights only the essential information on the speedometer and odometer. Additionally, when driving off-road, key dynamic information is displayed in the centre of the TFT-LCD screen, complementing the main Touch-screen display and providing valuable ‘at a glance’ vehicle status.
-
Heated Leather steering wheel, with multi function switches and cruise control
The multi-function steering wheel has been designed with intuitive controls, including two five-way toggle switches. These switches are used in tandem to easily and intuitively operate a number of vehicle features, including the In Car Entertainment system (left hand switch) and Thin Film Transistor (TFT)-LCD Virtual Instrument Panel (right hand switch). High grade leather for the steering wheel is complemented by the metallic Noble finish to the steering wheel spokes. An optional heated half wood, half leather steering wheel adds richness, visual appeal, and is practical as well as sumptuous (not available with HSE Model). You can also choose a complementing wood and leather gear knob, which is, as with the half wood steering wheel, available in all wood trim finishers dependent on the derivative selected.

-
Park heater – with remote control
Park Heating allows the vehicle's engine and cabin to be pre-warmed either via remote control or pre-programmed, via the Touch-screen, to activate at a preset time. Once the engine reaches operating temperature, excess heat is directed into the cabin to satisfy the driver's predetermined heating requirement. This means that when the driver goes to use the vehicle, the cabin temperature is already optimised.

DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION
DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION
The 4.4 litre LR-TDV8 Diesel engine features an eight-speed automatic transmission incorporating Drive Select with Paddle Shift as standard to deliver performance, refinement and an ultimate breadth of capability. The LR-V8 Supercharged Petrol engine features a six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift® for better response and smoother, more efficient gear changes.
- As Standard with this model of The Range Rover
-
Hill Descent Control (HDC) with Gradient Release Control (GRC)
The combination of Electronic Centre Differential and upgraded Hill Descent Control with Gradient Release Control gives The Range Rover driver total confidence over some of the most precipitous terrain. When engaged and where a sharp descent is detected, the HDC system automatically engages to achieve maximum grip. Varied brake and acceleration pressure then smoothly release the vehicle down the gradient until the optimum descent rate is reached, all without effort on the driver’s part.
-
Six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift® on petrol engines.
The sophisticated, fully adaptable six-speed transmission with CommandShift® actually responds to driving style and driving conditions by reconfiguring shift patterns, as appropriate, for optimum driveability, performance and capability in all situations. This means better response and smoother, more efficient gear changes as well as improving economy.
-
Dynamic Stability Control – Electronic Traction Control
The four-wheel Electronic Traction Control (ETC) monitors individual wheel speeds and cleverly distributes drive to the wheels that have the best traction. Should a wheel begin to spin, ETC instantly sends braking pulses to help slow it down until it grips again. At the same time, torque is applied to the opposite wheel and reduces the speed of the vehicle safely.
-
Cruise Control
Operated via buttons on the steering wheel, cruise control allows the driver to select a speed which The Range Rover will then maintain, smoothly and without using the brake pedal or accelerator. The system is indispensable on long journeys and often results in better fuel efficiency. The system can be overridden manually via the steering wheel button, or by the accelerator and brake pedals.
- Permanent four-wheel-drive
- Centre electronic differential with low range transfer box
- Options and Upgrades for this model of The Range Rover
-
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
The Range Rover is available with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) which provides even earlier identification of vehicles that may move into your path. This third-generation ACC system uses 12 beams to scan the road ahead 10 times every second, making it one of the most advanced systems available. It also offers more progressive deceleration, resets more accurately and is better able to indentify smaller road users, such as motorcycles, against larger vehicles and trucks. The ACC can be programmed to one of four settings. These are between 1.0 and 2.2 second intervals from the vehicle in front in normal driving conditions and when either Grass, Gravel or Snow are selected on the Terrain Response® dial. The ACC is also complemented by Forward Alert and Advanced Emergency Brake Assist (AEBA), all working together to help avoid a collision, in the first instance, by giving audible and visual alerts. Should an impact become inevitable, the AEBA with full ABS is triggered. This typically saves up to two-thirds of the time of the emergency brake assist system.
- Rear Electronic Differential (only with Adaptive Dynamics)
SUSPENSION AND STEERING
SUSPENSION AND STEERING
Air suspension, standard on every Range Rover, works with Terrain Response® to provide sublime handling, comfort and capability. In addition, Adaptive Dynamics (standard on LR-V8 Supercharged and LR-TDV8 models) ensures the ultimate Range Rover driving experience with enhanced control.

-
Electronic cross linked air suspension
Electronic air suspension with automatic load-levelling comes as standard on The Range Rover. This feature automatically compensates for a wide variety of vehicle loads. The addition of a new control system also means that the variable dampers are adjusted 100 times a second to produce an exceptionally comfortable ride, whatever the road or driving conditions.
-
CommandShift®
CommandShift® gear selection can be used as an alternative to The Range Rover transmission’s fully automatic mode by allowing gears to be manually selected with a single forward or rearward movement of the gear selector. This gives the driver more choice and control when rapid acceleration or engine braking is required. CommandShift® is standard on all petrol models and is not available on diesel models.
-
Paddle Shift (Petrol Derivatives)
Paddle Shift is available with LR-V8 Petrol and LR-V8 Supercharged Petrol derivatives in markets where both petrol and diesel engines are available. Please check with your Land Rover Dealer for specific availability.

Adaptive Dynamics
The Adaptive Dynamics suspension system provides the best ever Range Rover experience over rough roads by fully utilising the vehicle's long suspension travel to absorb potholes or ruts. It also provides enhanced control at higher speeds while cornering or braking. The system monitors the road 500 times a second and predicts the driver's actions, constantly fine tuning the suspension settings of each wheel of the vehicle to best suit the terrain. This helps ensure that all occupants are transported in the greatest possible comfort, regardless of the road surface and variations in conditions.
- Power assisted, speed proportional steering (PAS)
- Front: MacPherson struts with double lower control arms of vertical travel
- Rear: Double wishbone of vertical travel

The Surround Camera System uses five digital cameras, discreetly placed around the vehicle, to provide an almost complete 360 degree, real-time view of the surrounding area on the Touch-screen. The technology is also perfectly suited to providing help with more complex driving assignments such as towing a yacht or horsebox. The blind spot monitor is an innovative system that uses side-mounted radar sensors to survey any blind spots and alert the driver to vehicles detected within this area. Additionally, Automatic High Beam Assist (AHBA) is incorporated into the front headlight system to make night driving an altogether more relaxing experience. For instance, the high beam headlights can automatically switch on when external light levels dip below a certain threshold. Importantly, AHBA is also designed to detect preceding and approaching traffic, and in a split second will alternate between high and dipped beams to avoid dazzling others while maximising driver visibility.
