Hill Descent Control with Gradient Release Control (GRC) is designed to apply varied brake and accelerator pressure to help achieve acceleration gradually and more smoothly. The new 2010 Range Rover features a further enhancement of this system, so that it will automatically engage whenever a sharp descent is detected by the vehicle.

Hill Descent Control with Gradient Release Control (GRC) is designed to cope with specific, difficult terrain scenarios. For example, an unexpected crest or a sudden change in gradient can cause momentary loss of Traction or braking power, or over-acceleration as the vehicle goes down a steeper slope. HDC helps overcome these extreme situations by applying varied brake pressure in order to achieve a target rate of acceleration.
