For customers who want all of Freelander 2’s practical advantages, including command driving position, class-leading ground clearance, 2,000kg braked towing capacity and great interior flexibility, but don't require the ultimate in 4x4 capability, Freelander 2 is available as a two wheel drive vehicle – badged eD4.

The vehicle is fitted with the 150hp 2.2 litre diesel engine with six speed manual transmission and an intelligent Stop/Start system as standard. By shutting down the engine, in appropriate conditions when the vehicle comes to a stop, it enhances fuel efficiency and reduces tailpipe emissions to zero. The system can operate at temperatures as low as 0°C. The vehicle delivers 6.0l/100km on the EU combined cycle with 158g/km of CO2 emissions. While the six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift® (optional on the 150hp TD4 and standard on the 190hp SD4 diesel engines) offers optimum driveability as well as manual sequential gear changes and a driver selectable sport mode.
