FINDING NEW WAYS TO BE MORE EFFICIENT

We are constantly introducing new initiatives to help reduce waste and improve utilisation of the resources we use in manufacturing. Every measure we adopt helps in driving down both CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions across our operations.

    Fragile Earth
Land Rover is committed to sound environmental practice in all of our activities, from our manufacturing process through to providing instruction in responsible off-road driving.

    CO2 Offset Programme
In 2006 Land Rover launched a pioneering CO2 offset programme in the UK. By offsetting both 100% of manufacturing assembly emissions and for customers, their driving emissions over 45,000 miles, this programme is a unique combination in the industry.  We are now launched in 10 markets, spanning UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.  We plan to offset 3 million tonnes over 19 projects to date and not only are we jointly investing £800m in new vehicle technology specifically designed to reduce CO2 emissions, but we also invest in developing countries to help tackle climate change at a global level.

    Wind Powered Engine Plant
Part of our Responsible Manufacturing policy is a commitment to assembling diesel engines using wind power. At the Dagenham Diesel Centre, 100,000 diesel engines are produced each year. These engines are used in a number of our models including the Range Rover, Discovery 3, Defender and the Range Rover Sport.
