“I’ve probably spent most of my life chasing the perfect picture...Part of the joy of it is in that hunt.”
As someone who is in pursuit of the perfect picture, Jonas Bendiksen, a Norwegian photographer, decided to take a Range Rover SVAutobiography across Norway, with his sights firmly set on capturing the Ultimate Vista; the ultimate landscape shot. In order to capture the Ultimate Vista, Jonas needed a vehicle that would not only keep him comfortable on long drives between his locations, but also allow him to take his adventure off-road. The Range Rover was chosen thanks to its capability both on and off-road, allowing Jonas to venture wherever his inspiration took him.
We take a look at 4 terrains the Range Rover overcame with ease during the journey.
Inner City Roads
Jonas started his journey in Oslo, Norway where the distinctive Range Rover was at home amongst the groundbreaking architecture so admired in the capital. Here, he captured cityscapes as part of his search for the Ultimate Vista, with the buildings in his photos reflecting a sense of refinement and modernity also shown in the design of the Range Rover.
After leaving the city, Jonas headed into the Snøhetta mountains of Central Norway. On his ascent he encountered rocky, uneven terrain on route to his next location, the Reindeer Lookout. Here, the Range Rover’s Electronic Air Suspension kept the vehicle stable as he navigated the uneven track. The vehicle switched heights automatically and seamlessly, reducing disruption and discomfort in the cabin.
After waiting for the sun to set and capturing Reindeer Lookout at dusk, Jonas then used Hill Descent Control in the Range Rover on his way down the mountainside. This technology ensured a slow and controlled descent, making it both safe and comfortable for those on board.
Once the sun had set and Jonas had captured the Reindeer Lookout in the perfect, low-light conditions it was time for him to head back down the mountain. To do this, Jonas engaged the Range Rover’s Hill Descent Control, the technology maintaining a steady and controlled speed, allowing him to concentrate completely on navigating the tricky terrain.
Trollstigen is a winding road in Norway, famous for its 11 hairpin bends and a steep 10% incline. Using Dynamic Response the Range Rover tackled the road, and its many switchbacks that lead up the mountainside, with ease. The technology on board the powerful SUV reduced the body lean of the vehicle, allowing superior handling for the driver.
Snow and Ice
As Jonas continued his hunt for the Ultimate Vista he headed towards the coast, and it was here he came across the first snow of the season. Inspired by his surroundings and hoping to capture the varied colours the change of season brought him, Jonas undertook some off-road driving. Engaging the Terrain Response 2 system in the vehicle meant that Range Rover automatically adjusted to the terrain below it, preventing wheel spins and stopping the vehicle from sliding on the slippery surface below.
Jonas’s journey in search of the Ultimate Vista took him across the country, a journey made possible due to the comfortable car interior and the superior vehicle performance of the luxury SUV, the Range Rover.
