Jaguar Land Rover Canada ULC employees joined their agency partners and representatives from First Book Canada on the morning of October 26, 2012 at Hewson Public School in Brampton, Ontario. First Book personnel spoke to the students about the importance of reading in creating a bright future, and Lindsay Duffield, President of Jaguar Land Rover Canada, discussed the tie between success in reading and success in life. Lindsay provided valid and fun reasons for the students to develop a love of reading – including the important role reading can play in everyday life.
The team then read to the school children in small groups, had the children read aloud and spent some time crafting bookmarks. Each Hewson student was gifted with two new books to start their own library. First Book believes that when a child holds a new book, experiences the joy a story brings and gets to own that book, it awakens a passion for learning that delivers on the promise of a better life. TATA, parent company of Jaguar Land Rover Canada, gifted 10,000 new books to underprivileged children in Southern Ontario in 2012, and Team Jaguar Land Rover looks forward to participating in an even larger program in years to come.
